Date of birth: *7th of November 1879/†21th of August 1940
Place of birth: In the province Yanovka of the Russian Empire (todays Ukrain)
Parents: David Leontyevich Bronstein (1847–1922) and Anna Bronstein (d. 1910)
Religion: Jewish family ( not religious)

After beeing involved in the revolutionary activities of 1896 he became, during periods of exile and imprisonment, a partisan of Marxism
By using the name "Lov", he wrote and printed leaflets and proclamations.Thus he also disturbed revolutionary flyers and popularized socialist ideas among industrial workers and revolutionary students. After his imprisonemt for two years in January 1898 , he joined into the newly formed Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (RSDLP).
